Forget hearing the news on the net, the TV or the papers about originally-made reality show-based celebrities who have gone into the wrong paths of their careers, this is ending up nowhere. Instead, this is a post which i will make it as a tribute to the collegiate basketball cagers who ended up treated like celebrities every time they don their school's colors in their basketball jerseys & fight for their school. Welcome to the world of the college basketball players.
When June rolls out, it's the kick off of the college basketball season. But as early as April, when every student takes a break due to the heat of the summer sun, pre-season tournaments rolled out to witness who will enter the college basketball scene by June for the NCAA & July for the UAAP. But it's like a heart-stopping NCAA or UAAP game even if it's not the college basketball peak months i guess, like an Ateneo-La Salle game on summer time where the entire venue, The Arena in San Juan is filled up, even though the crowd capacity is not more than the seating capacity of the Smart Araneta Coliseum. But that's always a sight of every Ateneo-La Salle game. The Blue & The Green dividing the venue into a sea of green & an ocean of blue. About last year, upon the arrival of the new decade. It was a year of Lions & Eagles. Ateneo aimed their 3rd straight tittle, a modern-day 3 peat for the Blue Eagles. While San Beda redeemed themselves in a perfect 18-0 standing to get the tittle back, the Red Lions roared louder with a pumped-up roster & we witnessed how Anthony & David Semerad started the road to redemption. That was an intensive year ever!
We don't just see the college cagers on the court, every July, Chalk Magazine, U Magazine & Rebound Magazine come up with features related to the NCAA & the UAAP, even the Young Star section of The Philippine Star has a feature related to both college sports leagues to fill the cravings of die-hard & novice college basketball fans. But it looks like both The Philippine Star & Philippine Daily Inquirer has a feature of both leagues in a special supplement or in their lifestyle supplements to give their readers a lowdown of who are these cagers on & off the court. As of this moment, i was a college basketball geek in-training since the return of the Ateneo-La Salle rivalry in 2007. On the net, Yahoo! Philippines has College Hoops, a special site related to the UAAP & they also post articles related to the UAAP & the NCAA on Fit To Post. So, every college basketball fan will never be left behind to get the real dish on their favorite college basketball teams & cagers. Anyway, if you're in to the world of college basketball, be in the know so you don't have to be left behind.
