Today, it was a not-so-ordinary day although today is the opening day of UAAP Season 74. So, let me guess, i stumble upon some YT clips related to the past Super Sentai shows you guys watched during the 90's huh? Oh yes, one of them is Hikari Sentai Maskman. When i decided to watch the opening intro, i was like flabbergasted when i watched it because i remember when i was a kid, i could always skip it & proceed to the episode proper. This time around, not anymore. As i knew it, it took me time to know more REALLY about this series. This Super Sentai series is actually a cut above the rest since we say goodbye to Afro 'dos & think wavy hair as we say hello to Anime-inspired hairdos, long straight hairs for cute girls & Asian pop star-inspired hairdos. At least this series has the 5 best protagonists: Takeru the cool yet preppy race car driver, Genta the tough rebel dude, Akira the Bishonen who has a mean kick for Kung Fu & does a Henry Lau by playing the violin, Haruka the dare-devil girl who looks cute on the outside & tough on the inside & Momoko the sweet girl next door who can do Tai Chi. What more can you ask for? You could almost copy their hairdos & fashion statements, right? I know you do.... Maybe some of you does.
I could always remember that when i was a kid, i could watch Maskman every Sunday morning around 10:30am, sometimes, i missed it due to that i was out of the house or watching Power Rangers (Morphin Seasons 2 & 3/Turbo) also on the same mentioned time slot. The opening intro is amazing, using a 'paper-flip' effect to introduced the 5 protagonists like you would flip the pages of your favorite books or magazines. Ok, ok, i admit i love this series, swear. So, watch this intro before someone turns the lights off.
